The Wick Trimmers

At Lighthouse

Originally we came together in the early 1990s to play for the end-of-week barn dance at Lighthouse, the local annual children's summer event. We play a variety of music for both listening and dancing. Happy to perform in concerts, clubs or as background music we play a mixture of traditional foot-stomping Irish, English, Scottish music and the evocative slower airs too, as well as self-penned folk music. The Wick Trimmers are much in demand too for local barn dances. We give priority to bookings from local churches and community organisations.

The five-piece band comprises of:

Philippa on whistles & flute, Gerard on accordion, mandolin and banjo, Colin on guitar and banjo, Pauline on bodhran and John on bass guitar. At our folk club we are privileged to have Nia join us on fiddle too.

The Wick Trimmers continue to play together because we enjoy making music and we love the way both music and dance can help create community spirit.

 Chequers Folk

Since the summer months of 2011, we have been holding the popular folk evenings which started in the back room of the Chequers Pub - 8pm on the third Wednesday in the month   (every month except August) - come along and enjoy live folk music from the resident band and guests.
