KCP Hannah 200712 CV .mp4
Colin Veysey
King's Church, Prestwood Sunday 12 July service on zoom. The series of talks on pray-ers of the Bible. Lead Elder Colin Veysey speaks about Hannah from 1 Samuel 1-2:1-10 and how lessons from 3000 years ago can still be relevant today. Hannah's longing for God's kingdom and to know God's will despite a very antagonistic culture led her to pray - to grow in faith and to wait for God to fulfil her longing - a lesson that many need to learn today.

Treasures Old and New
Colin Veysey
The centre piece of Matthew's gospel has Jesus asking the disciples if they understand the Kingdom of Heaven... their response is 'yes'. Jesus then tells a brief parable which enables us to see that within each of us there are gems of the Kingdom in our memories and understanding, but there is much that the Holy Spirit can enable us to do that are the new treasures - and both are valid and important.

Mothering and the Church
Colin Veysey
Colin explores the characteristics of mothering that are seen in God's creation in the context of both the Exodus story and Mothering Sunday. The challenge is laid out that gender bias has caused the Church to undervalue vital elements of God's character and purposes.

Truth? The question and Jesus as the answer
Colin Veysey
Some inspiring scriptures and a worship song lead into the second in a short series on John 14:6. Colin looks at Paul's letter to Thessalonia in the light of the question 'What is truth?' as asked by Pontius Pilate, philosophers and theologians through the ages - and whether Jesus statement to Thomas the previous night 'I am the way, the truth and the life,' gives us a clue to the nature of truth and how the word of God, and the events of Jesus life can help us today to understand where to continue the ques

All for one and one for all - prayer in Ephesians
Colin Veysey
Prayer is the core of the Christian life because it is about our relationship with God. Paul concludes his epistle to Ephesus emphasising the need of each one to pray for everyone, and his need as an individual for the prayer of God's people: One for all and all for one. Colin explores the final part of Ephesians chapter 6.
